They say one action doesn’t define you.
I killed a man. Stabbed him in the neck and licked the blood off my lips after I did it.
Still, one action doesn’t define you.
I could have called anyone. My father, the Prez of The Fallen MC, our family lawyer, my best friend, Lila, or my brother, King.
I didn’t.
Instead, I called Lionel Danner, the police officer renowned for taking down the Nightstalkers MC. The man who had been my father’s arch nemesis for decades. The man who hated everything I stood for. A man who had disappeared from my life without explanation three years ago.
I called him.
And maybe one action doesn’t define you, but killing a bad man and calling in the good changed my life and it sure as hell changed his.
The third book in the Fallen Men Series. A standalone featuring Harleigh Rose and Officer Lionel Danner.
Harleigh Rose is a great sassy woman who is loyal and loves her family. And yet, Danner is one of the only people who can see her when she's hurting the most. He is perceptive in reading her emotions and can see deep into her soul and tell when she's most fragile. Don't get me wrong, Harleigh Rose is a tough chick but also human. She has her vulnerable moments. And Danner... oh boy... he is one kinky cop ;) He is definitely the embodiment of a gentleman who holds the door open for you before spanking your a**
"This is the game we're gonna play, rebel. You can sass me, fight me and disagree with me all day long. It's you, and f*** knows, I like that. But now, when I've got my hands on your body, I'm your Dominant, and if you want my c***, you'll f***ing well have to earn it by being my good girl instead of my rebel one."
There are other incredible characters here too. For those who have read the other books, familiar faces appear which is brilliant. But Harleigh Rose and Danner are the centre focus here. I felt many emotions while reading this story: fear for my characters when they were in danger, sorrow for their loss, excitement when things went well for them and, on more than one occasion, I did need a fan to cool down!
One thing I found interesting in this story was how Giana Darling explored the duality of the human spirit, especially, in the protagonists. Like yin and yang, there is some good in the bad and some bad in the good. Each person is capable of both and therefore it is their choices which dictate which side of them wins out. And of course, sometimes, a person can be a good person but do bad things... such bad things like Danner in the bedroom ;)
There is suspenseful action and limits are pushed when the characters fight for what's important to them. Unexpected turns keep you hooked and there are some characters who you absolute despise and want karma to take a bite of them! Truly, an incredible story with fantastic characters.
