Lola Winters’ heart already belongs to Johnny, but for him, she’d sell the devil her soul. Unfortunately, the devil wants something else.
Beau Olivier is the kind of wealthy that buys anything—even people. When he makes Lola a proposition, she finds herself tempted into a seduction that will have her walking the line between comfort and humiliation, desire and resistance. He would own her—for one night. She would be his—for a price. It was wrong. It was scandalous. It was the opportunity of a lifetime.
Sex, music, neon on the Sunset Strip—right in the middle of it all, he would have her. Come sunrise, he would let her go. At least, that was the plan.
He stood by the door with a hip slightly cocked and his long arms straight at his sides, as if he'd been passing by and hadn't meant to stop. Even in the dark, his good looks struck her. He could've wandered straight from a movie premiere at Grauman's Chinese Theater the next boulevard over, except that he was too buttoned up.
"You lost?" she asked.
He straightened his back. "What gives you that impression?"
"If you're looking for happy hour," she said, pointing west noncommittally, "try a few blocks down."
He certainly doesn't look like he belongs there in his hot suit. But for the entire evening, he can't take his eyes off of Lola. By the end of the evening, Beau makes Johnny and Lola an indecent proposal. A wickedly delicious one ;) He will give them the money to buy the bar... for a price. Lola. He wants her for one night. To do whatever he wants. I think some of us would be like this:
She stood and steadied herself against the table. "You clawed your way to the top, yet you're still taking advantage of others' desperation. You're Depraved. I guess it's true that you can take the person out of the trash, but you can't take the trash out of the person."
He tilted his head. "Is that what they say about you?"
"Go to hell." She didn't have much dignity left, but she wasn't willing to give him every last piece of it. "I can't do this."
The night is nothing like what she expected. Instead of spending the entire night in a bedroom, Beau takes her clothes shopping and then to a charity event. He is savouring the moment instead of simply devouring her. As the night progresses, Lola sees a different side to Beau. She realises that there's more to him than meets the eye. You can feel how torn she is about the situation. I mean, who wouldn't? You start falling for him. He does exactly what he said he would. Enter into Lola without her realising it and then it's too late before she realises what he's done. And then Beau pushes her boundaries by taking her to a strip club. Woah mama! Talk about hotness! ;) I can't wait for you guys to read that part! I was like :O what?!? No, she didn't! Jessica certainly knows how to create scene! ;)
Eventually, they reach the hotel room and if you thought the strip club was hot, wait until you read what happens in the bedroom! ;) Here's a little snippet:
"I want to see your face when you come," she said.
He wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed her neck. "Then ride me," he said into her ear.
She turned in his arms and pushed his chest. He sat back on the bed. She put her knees on both sides of hips and held him with one hand as she sank down. "How's that?" she asked coyly.
"You're too far," he groaned.
"I'm as close as I can get."
"No you aren't."
She bent forward and put her lips to his, creating a curtain around them with her hair. He angled up to kiss her. She circled her hips over him. Their mouths became hungrier, and he sat up to bury both his hands into her hair.
Beau wants another night with her but Lola says it can't happen. There are so many questions that Lola is left with. How will she continue on with her life after that night? She can't pretend it never happened. And then there's Johnny. How will they get past that night? Yes, they are a million dollars richer but how to continue forward? What happens to their relationship? And when Beau drove away, will Lola forever ask herself what would life have been if she stayed in that car? Oh, so many questions!!! I wait to see what happens to all of them. I know Beau won't give up so easily so it will be interesting to see what he does. And Johnny. Will owning the bar really make them happy? A great book by Jessica. A great story and Interesting characters, especially Lola. Love females when there are fiery and confident. Beau is a bit cold and calculating at times but the more time he spends with Lola, the more he seems to thaw out. He changes between hot and cold quickly. However, I still think he's hot ;) A great story that you need to get. I can't wait for book 2!!!
