Lola should’ve known better than to fall for the devil.
Beau thought getting his power back from Lola meant he’d won the game, but all he did was teach her how to play. Now, she’s ready to take on the master himself, and only she knows the rules.
In order for Lola to get close enough to hurt him, she has to love him. It won’t be easy to love the devil, but it will be worth it—if it means sending him to hell where he belongs
Night Moves is the third novella in the erotic romance Night Fever Serial. Reader discretion is advised due to mature themes.
So a quick re-cap of Night Fever and Night Call. Beau meets Lola in her bar and offers her and her boyfriend, Johnny, an indecent proposal. One night with her. Initially, the offer is refused until Beau doubles the money. With their dream on the line, this money would go a long way to help them. At the end of the night, Lola knows that she is falling for Beau and he offers her another night. But it all unravels when the truth is revealed that his proposals were nothing more than a conquest. Beau wanted to take back the power Lola took from him the night he made his break.
Now, onto Night Moves! Lola is planning something, but we don't know what exactly. There is a massive confrontation with her and Johnny. It's now that we see just have naive he is and he certainly doesn't take any of the blame for selling Lola. She realises that it was over for a while and now she is taking back control.
She wasn't sure where she was going or what she wanted, but it would be on her terms.
Good for her! She can do better than Johnny. Now Beau said he was going to forget Lola but he thinks he sees her getting into an elevator in his hotel. But that can't be right! It seems that Lola isn't the only one who has a confrontation. Things get pretty heated in the car between Beau and Brigitte. I really don't like her. Snobby and stuck up. What right does she have to judge Lola?
While Lola tries to figure out what to do, she realises that Beau has never paid for his sins... and someone should make him feel the pain that he has caused other people. Guess who is going to do that? ;) My heart broke when I read Lola's feelings and how she came to terms with the fact that she couldn't just be angry with Johnny. Not with her sins. The poor thing fell in love with the Devil.
Slowly, we see that Lola is getting her plan ready... three weeks. Three weeks of preparations. The plan sounds devious... ;) And oh man... we learn that Beau has more secrets and used underhanded tactics to ensure that he won Lola for the night. What a douchecanoe! -_- Lola's resolve is amazing. Going back into the Dragon's Den to teach him a lesson. Making him believe that he can have her.
It seemed to Lola that within only a few hours, she already had the bastard exactly where she wanted him.
"The only place we're going is home." Beau tossed the ears on the table and scribbled his signature on the check. He leaned across the table toward her but didn't bother lowering his voice. "You think I'll last two minutes watching you dance for me? You'll be lucky if I don't jump across this table and give you this entire restaurant a show they'll never forget. My patience is gone, Lola."
The power of a woman ;) And Beau's reaction when it finally comes to pass... damn.... You guys are in for a treat with this story!
What I love about the characters is that they are so very human and real. They aren't evil or good. Just people. Despite Lola going on this quest, she does have her doubts. On numerous occasions she thinks about letting go of the plan and giving in. Giving in to Beau. Having a life with him. But she remembers the hurt and pain and continues on with her plan. Then we have Beau. Yes he is power hungry. Yes he values money but he does learn to love. He does make concessions for Lola where he never did before with anyone, not even Brigitte. The emotions and thoughts touch your heart and you truly feel for the characters. You want them to be happy but can you really let go of that kind of pain? A pain that was caused on purpose?
Jessica slowly reveals the story by having flashbacks to three weeks ago to tease the reader with bits and pieces. She taunts and tempts us by revealing the whole plot little by little. Kind of like Lola. Teasing and captivating Beau. A slow seduction, willing us to succumb to temptation. Jessica definitely proves what I said in my review for Night Call that Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned ;) It's not over until it's over and things are really getting white hot! I absolutely love this series and this installment had me on the edge of my seat! Lola is so devious! And of course Jessica too. The way she planned this book, the flow, the trickle of information. A true page turner! I'm worried and excited to see what will happen to Lola and Beau. I'll be sad to see this series finish but I can't wait to see how it ends! As Jessica herself wrote in her book, this isn't about satisfaction, it's about torment. But it's a pleasurable torture! Bring on Night Edge!!!
